I was born in Dublin and have been training in Martial Arts for over 24 years. I first began my journey at the age of 13, when I studied traditional Japanese systems. After a break, I got back into training. I then spent most of my time going from system to system. I tried various forms of traditional training, however I was never really satisfied with any system of training. For many years I trained in Ed Parker’s American Kenpo, where I received my black belt grade.
While I was going through college I began to work as a nightclub doorman. It didn’t take long before I realized that my traditional training wasn’t working, and needed a large overhaul. Some of the other doormen were in the same boat. Their traditional training had let them down when they most needed it. I started looking for other real world solutions, it didn’t take long for my to find the work of world-renowned Combatives instructor Lee Morrison. After seeing Lee in action, I quickly realized that Urban Combatives was the final piece of the puzzle.
I’ve been lucky enough to train under Lee for the last four years now, and on July 18th 2008, I was made a full instructor in the Urban Combatives system. I still train with Lee on a regular basis, regularly going over to his seminars and workshops where he is based in Southampton UK.
